The sad part, yet another group of people, with WAY too much money on
their hands, will buy these "investments" leading sports figures to
think that the general public has that much money to spend on such
trivial things at that price. sigh...

actually, these are not selling...
i remember when these first went on sale...the guy who put the book
together didn't mean for it to be signed...and his publishing company
thought it a brilliant idea...
it's because all the players have a no limit pricing structure to
their private signing price. so they charge what they want...well, a
lot of mvp's are highly priced hall of famers who won't budge on their
private signing prices...not even for something like this...
if i remember correctly, this book does not come unsigned...

People (except Star Wars ones that are newbie in the past three -5
Years) are wise now. I see a crapload of stuff "not selling". Things
this price are usually only sold by celebs or huge film/TV icons for
charity. Usually private sellers don't get that for their stuff.

I just heard people were "booking" a Star Wars ex-collector (I'll
reserve what they call him now) into getting Ford and Lucas sigs for
several hundred or over a grand each. INSANITY. Those people will
never see a return on their "investment". I laugh... to me it's
funny. All it takes is a little patience and eventually all these
people can get gotten.... I've had to wait years on some, but it
happens and I still have only paid 100 bucks max for a single graph
and that was on a deceased person.

Just a quick SW question... is Lucas hard to get and what is his sig
worth? thanks!

He doesn't sign by mail but he signs readily in person but is not out
on the town a whole lot...

His sigs are depending on what it is. Index cards can go low as 40
bucks and posters and cool memoribilia a lot more. I'd probably guess
his sig is 100 -200 on average.

I had a great one signed on a charity ticket for the premiere of
Attack fo the Clones i got from someone who worked there. I'd guess
that'd bring a good amount; alas the item faded a bit (was in ball
point). I have another from another crew member but is on a crappy
homemade item (I can't tell story behind that right now) so that I
think I could get about 40 bucks for on a good day and an inscribed
index that was obtained in person on my behalf. Another one where I
bought it.

A good quality or rare image or original script could bring several
hundred.

I wouldn't even pay $4000 for it. I would however, pay $400. I paid $400
years ago for a book signed by the 50 greatest living authors published
around 1980. It included a young Stephen King along with Harper Lee, Eudora
Welty, etc. etc.

Now that is something that I would say is worth the money. $400.00
for an individual? No way. The same amount for 50 authors, that
breaks down to $8.00 an autograph, a definitely steal. This is
especially true for reclusive sorts like King. :-)

"a definitely steal"? That's what happens when you're typing two
thoughts at the same time. :-)

Antiques Roadshow just had an autographed book someone made (like a
scrapbook) from the time of the Civil War... it was mad all that time
ago while people like Jefferson Davis and Robert E Lee were alive etc.
He collected autographs then and the appraiser said a lot of people
wrote for Robert E Lee's autograph and he had a secretary who sent
them out (I guess he signed though; they didn't say the secretary
did). Anyway, the autograph album was worth 75,000 bucks!

this nfl book is definately not worth the pricetag.... sadly, if it
sold, you'd see an NFL mvp book, mlb world series hero book etc.
hitting the market with similar price tags...so be glad this book
isn't selling well...i actually think this book is in it's third year
and hasn't made a first run through...
i do believe that the book is marked for like $400 dollars with no
signatures in it as well...
where does the line get drawn, truly?
