alright..take 2 celebrities that were born in the same year. track
their career and see which one has had a better career (in your
opinion)...or at least the career you'd have liked to have had.
mine are harrison ford ( 13 July 1942) and brian wilson (20 June
1942). not even born a full month apart. you can use sports people
too.
ok..harrison has been a part of 3 "tentpole" movies (indiana jones,
star wars, jack ryan series) as well as being in the hugely successful
"the fugitive". he was once considered one of the biggest stars in the
world (if he isn't considered one now).. he was one of the first (may
have been the first) stars given $20 million for a movie role...and
technically, his movies have made more money for one single actor than
any other actor in the world (tom cruise may have topped that by
now.)...but he's been in his share of flops (firewall, k-19, hollywood
homicide). but has had huge success, even being in american grafitti
(a huge cult-type favorite). and i just watched a documentary on the
history channel where a bunch of younger archaeologists said they only
became what they are BECAUSE OF indiana jones. but he was recently
been seen on the "tonight show" where he was high as a kite. slurring
his words and speaking incoherently.
brian wilson...the architect of the beach boys...one of the biggest
bands ever (the 60's and 70's more importantly.). his pet sounds album
is widely considered to be either #1 or #2 of the greatest rock albums
ever recorded (depending on who's list you are looking at) and the
reason the beatles wanted to continue to record albums instead of
singles..it essentially changed the record industry. many songs the
beach boys recorded are on tons of movie soundtracks and play
everywhere. his music has been translated into over 40 languages. he
has currently played to sold out audiences all over the world for the
past 6 years now...non the downside, he locked himself in his room for
15 years doing drugs, which has made him a walking turnip.
both people are pretty nice about signing autographs. but brian is
much nicer. both are enjoying a nice twilight career.
it's hard for me to decide...i would go with ford if i was into
acting..but i'm much more into music...i can always listen to a beach
boys record much easier than sitting through a ford movie (just more
time consuming and i can't watch them in my car..) so i'm going with
brian wilson (minus the heavy drug use)...but these are my favorites
in music and movies...
please post your favorites...maybe it'll get our mids off the forgers
(strickler, ne autographs) and b.s. ebay has caused. it's kind of
fun...and makes you do research on some people as well...
feel free to go with BIG people or smaller celebrities as well. age
does kind of factor in (think how quick colin farrell has
disappeared)... but they have to be born in the same year...
i have another game to play, but let's start with this...

George Lucas and Jimmy Page.

Need I say more? Same as yours. George Associated with the largest
grossing films, started his own company, pioneered even Pixar which
later became it's own and HUGE, Star Wars, Indiana Jones, and has
friends like Steven Spielberg and Martin Scorsesee... can't beat
that. All the while stays humble and if never does another thing in
the rest of his life, willl still be an icon and thought of fondly
(minus Phantom Menace and Howard the Duck). Hey everyone makes
mistakes!

Jimmy Page; voted as one of the all time best guitar players on
anyone's list, part of a legendary band still popular all these years
later. Started about the same time as Lucas. Both enjoying wealth
and untold success and added into hall of fame for what they do
perhaps. Alas, George was never blessed with an Oscar...

However all things considered, George wins. George is a Producer,
Director, Writer, Pioneer in Animation, a personality into his own
self, and marketing guru.

That's slightly beats out Page who is writer, singer and guitar player
with little else to boast about. Though huge and maybe best at what
he does, he doesn't translate to TV, Movies, Marketing, or his own
personality so much as he doesn't get out there in front of the camera
so much. He's associated moreseo with a group, and later into his own
a little, but still associated with the group with not much NEW that
is in the media. George has the new Indy film.

George wins by a small but decent margin.

daltry is pretty tough too...but he signs..
at least in l.a., plant didn't sign the last 2 times he was in town...
i heard in new york, he had yelled at people...but in the middle
section of the country, he's been really nice on the recent tour...
l.a. and new york are BEASTS when it comes to collectors/sellers.
