I went to this and could not get a graph. Here's a clue for those
going in the next few days. I guess some would depend on the venue
and how it's set up... but for the INDOOR ones, this might be a tip.
We arrived very early. We left the house about 5:30 am and were there
about 6:30 AM they opened the doors about 8 am but the rally wasn't
supposed to start till 10 am. Line outside was already a couple
thousand. Not as many as the Obama at that point though.
The people arriving before 7 AM were in the group of people allowed
seating in the bleachers. Then seats ran out. We thought we had
brilliant seats. Almost center about 8 rows back. I could barely see
us when they panned back on CNN last night. Turns out not so great of
seats for graphs ;(. So in this case arriving soon not so great but
was a trade off as having a seat was good.
Those arriving between 7-7:30 hit it dead on I think. They got to be
closer to the stage. Standing in crowded quarters though. However,
those getting close to the stage on the LEFT side, got autographs etc.
There was no way from where we were, though just a bit away from that,
to get graphs because of the barriers set up. Also, those arriving at
the VERY end, got to block the aisles (fire hazzard if you ask me)
and a few got close enough to probably get a graph though might have
been just a wee bit (couple feet) too far from the barrier. Oh well.
I really did want Palin's graph. Maybe another time when she write a
book or something.
Anyway, I did manage photos and a couple videos (though we were far
back considering so they are not brilliant and we didn't do close ups
for some reason). They are viewable on www.myspace.com/dahoov2
PS about the same amount of people at this Rally as Obama's. Estimate
was 18 thousand inside the park (and another couple thousand outside
the park who wanted in)... and estimates yesterday 17 thousand inside
the venue (filled to capacity and they cut it off). I have no idea how
many were turned away but my guess is about the same. So probably
even split.
